If you have kept your contact details up to date, we will send a reminder 28 days before your card expires by SMS, email or letter.

Renew your Check before it expires to continue doing child-related work

It is illegal to do child-related work without a valid card unless you are exempt.

How do I renew my Check?

Only one of the following options will apply to you.

Option 1: You have not renewed or changed from Volunteer to Employee Check online before

To renew:

  1. Register for access to MyCheck, then login and select ‘Renew my Check’.
  2. Confirm or update your personal, contact and organisation details
  3. If applying for an Employee Check, pay the non-refundable fee by credit card. Volunteer Checks are free.

Option 2: You have renewed or changed from a Volunteer to Employee Check online before

You need to upload a photo. To do this:

  1. Register for access to MyCheck, then login and select ‘Renew my Check’.
  2. Upload a new photo. See photo requirements below.
  3. Confirm or update your personal, contact and organisation details.
  4. If applying for an Employee Check, pay the non-refundable fee by credit card. Volunteer Checks are free.

 

 

What are the photo requirements?

A new photo that is less than 12 months old is required for your card. It is recommended that you obtain a professional photo. Photos that do not meet the following requirements will be rejected.Sample photo images

You need to:

  • face the camera with your head straight not tilted
  • only show your head and shoulders
  • have your eyes open
  • have a neutral expression on your face
  • be in front of a plain, light-coloured background.

 

You can wear:

  • glasses if you normally wear them
  • apparel covering your hair if you do so for religious or medical reasons.

 

Photo specifications:

  • colour
  • jpg or jpeg format
  • a minimum 406 x 521 pixels
  • less than 5MB in size
  • sharp focus
  • strong contrast between face and background
  • well lit with no shadows
  • less than 12 months old.
